![]() Now I have to start over.Īltium also has a $2k/year maintenance to remain on their subscription. Able to whip out production ready designs in no time flat. I'm probably going to have to suck it up and learn KiCad, warts and all. ![]() It's been dumbed down and seems like a toy. It's being integrated into Fusion360, with the intent of eliminating Eagle as a stand alone product. ![]() KiCad isn't doing anyone any favors in bifurcating symbols and packages.Īll that being said, Autodesk is in the process of absolutely RUINING Eagle. ![]() Even if I change my mind much later in the process, it's trivial to change packages in Eagle. I've never once in 25+ years of PCB design gone into making a schematic not knowing whether I wanted to go through-hole or SMT in my final design. I'm perpetually annoyed by KiCad's decision to disassociate symbols from footprints, and the addition of the unnecessary task of assigning packages after the schematic is complete. I find that there's a lot more clicks to go through with KiCad than with Eagle. KiCad's user experience needs a LOT of work. I have no doubt KiCad is a capable piece of software, but I MUCH prefer Eagle's workflow.
